The Domain Name You Want is Already Taken

What if after hours of thinking of a great domain name you do a search to find out that it is already taken. There are only two real options you can choose from. You can choose a different domain name, one that is available, or you can attempt to buy the domain name from the existing owner.

If you are buying a .ca domain name go to Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) and follow the registration steps.

If you want buy a domain that is owned by someone you have to first find out who owns it. You can find out the owner of domains by using a whois. You can find a whois search by putting “whois” in a search engine. If you are looking for a .ca go to Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA). A good whois search will have contact information for the owner; you can then contact the owner to see if they will sell. There is no standard resale price for domains so you will have to negotiate with the owner on the price.
