Buying a Domain Name

Buying a domain name is a very simple task which takes 5-20 minutes. There are many different registrars for domain names all offering different prices and services, so shop around and find the one that best suits your ebusiness. If you are looking for a .ca it is best to start at the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA). The CIRA has a step-by-step guide that takes you through the process.

The basic steps:
1. Check to see if the domain name you want is available.
2. Choose a registrar company.
3. Fill in your details (make sure administrative contact is your name or your company’s name*)
4. Pay for your domain

*The name in the administrative contact is the owner of the domain name.
